Zamora happy to defy critics

Bobby Zamora has expressed his delight at the way Fulham have taken the Premier League by surprise this season. The striker does not believe much was expected from the Cottagers at the start of the campaign, after they had only just avoided relegation last term. He feels Fulham will continue to be underdogs for their remaining two games against relegation-threatened Newcastle and sixth-placed Everton. But Zamora is thrilled that Fulham have managed to defy their critics and challenge for a Europa League spot. "I think we have sort of been written off at the start of the season and every game we have gone into, we have never really been favourites," he told Sky Sports News. "But that is good, it has suited us, and I doubt we are really favourites for the next two games either. "It is something for us to channel our energies and hopefully we can continue to do well and get that place in Europe." Fulham currently occupy seventh place and maximum points from the next two games would secure European qualification, but Zamora is taking nothing for granted. He said: "It would be fantastic but we know we have two very difficult games and the teams that are just behind us are capable of winning as well."
