Fulham opened talks with Ajax coach Martin Jol on Sunday night. The Daily Mail report that the 54-year-old former Spurs coach has had preliminary talks with Fulham but will meet again later this week to finalise a deal. Fulham are not expected to make an announcement ahead of their pre-season tour to Sweden today but Jol will join the squad before the weekend. Jol, who managed Tottenham between 2004 and 2007, was preferred to Ivory Coast coach Sven-Goran Eriksson while Lee Clark, Ottmar Hitzfeld and Slaven Bilic were also considered.
