Swansea 1 Fulham 1: Welsh thank England for a touch of Scotland

Jason Scotland thought Swansea was in England when he signed - but the Trinidad & Tobago striker is now putting the Welsh side on the map. [LNB]He scored his 12th goal in 12 matches to earn a replay after Swansea had dominated. And he feels he has answered critics who thought his prolific form in League One last season -when he scored 29 times - could not be repeated at a higher level. [LNB]Swansea manager Roberto Martinez has assembled an exciting squad on a slender budget and Scotland, 30 on Wednesday, is undoubtedly the bargain buy. He cost just £25,000 when he signed from St Johnstone in summer 2007. [LNB]'I thought it was in England,' said the striker. [LNB]'I thought it would be a better move for me, coming out to England, but - obviously - it's in Wales. It was quite shocking.[LNB] Touchline showdown: Swansea boss Roberto Martinez and Fulham full back Paul Konchesky exchange verbal blows over a disputed incident[LNB] [LNB]'When I arrived, it was the summer and about 23 degrees. I was thinking "this is the place to be". It hasn't reached that level again.' [LNB]However, Martinez has transformed Scotland's career. Martinez said: 'He's the type of striker not many managers fancy, looking at his weaknesses. But Jason's strengths are unique and I love that kind of player who relies on raw talent. [LNB]'He's a great character and a goalscorer but it's more than that. The link-up play, how he understands space, is important for us.'[LNB] Inch perfect: Clint Dempsey puts in a perfect challenge to dispose Nathan Dyer[LNB] [LNB]Swansea, using an ambitious 4-1-2-3 formation, could have had the game wrapped up by half-time. Their passing and movement were a joy. [LNB]Mark Gower hit a post early on before firing the ball at Mark Schwarzer from three yards out. [LNB]Fulham[LNB]grabbed a lead against the run of play through an own goal. Swansea goalkeeper Dorus De Vries missed Paul Konchesky's corner and the ball struck Gary Monk on the hip before rolling into the net. [LNB]UNSUNG HERO LEON BRITTON (Swansea) [LNB]Roberto Martinez's tactics hinge on a solid, holding midfielder to protect the centre backs while the full backs pour forward. Britton performed the role impressively. Much of the dirty work he has to do - the tracking, pressing - goes unnoticed but he is a vital cog in a highly effective midfield machine. [LNB] But Scotland equalised in the 52nd minute. He received Gower's pass with his back to goal on the edge of the 18-yard box, turned Aaron Hughes brilliantly and fired home. [LNB]Fulham manager Roy Hodgson said: 'It was a jaded display from us and a good one from Swansea. The important thing was to earn the replay.'[LNB]HAVE YOUR SAY: WHO ARE YOUR FA CUP UNSUNG HEROES - Post your views in the comments box below MATCH FACTS [LNB]SWANSEA (4-1-2-3): De Vries 6; Rangel 6, Williams 7, Monk 6, Tate 7; Britton 7; Gomez 6, Allen 6 (Bauza 81min); Gower 5 (Orlandi 71, 6), Dyer 6, Scotland 7.
