Sverkos not for Cottagers

Czech club Banik Ostrava have played down rumours suggesting that Fulham were closing in on a deal for striker Vaclav Sverkos.
The 24-year-old frontman was recently part of his country's squad at Euro 2008, but seems set to move to Russia in the near future, rather than taking up offers from France and England.
Banik spokesman, Igor Bruzl, told Denik Sport: "Fulham? To be honest it is the first time I have heard about that.
"I have spoken with the club's owner, Tomas Petera, and he was as surprised by Fulham's reported interest as I was.
"There have been some initial contacts, but it is not the case that French clubs have directly contacted the club with the intention of starting negotiations.
"On the other hand, the offers from Russia have been very specific. We cannot delay this situation any further. We need to know if we can count on Vaclav Sverkos or not.
"He feels that now is the time for him to start preparations for the upcoming season and wants to know which club he will be at."
