Striking options for Warnock

Crystal Palace are considering moves for Jerome Thomas and Eddie Johnson and have handed youngster Matthew Wright a one-year deal. Former Charlton forward Thomas was released by Portsmouth on Wednesday and is now searching for a new club ahead of the coming season. Fulham striker Johnson still has two years remaining on his contract at Craven Cottage, but is deemed surplus to requirements and spent last season on loan with Cardiff. The agents of both players have contacted Eagles boss Neil Warnock, who is now considering whether to offer either player a chance to shine. Of Thomas, he told the Croydon Advertiser: "His agent has contacted us so we are aware of his availability. Obviously our priority remains bringing in a player who can play through the middle - but Thomas is an option." And it was a similar story in relation to USA international Johnson, with Warnock adding: "We've had a phone call about him from his agent - but we don't know if we are going to follow it up. It's an option." Former Swansea man Wright impressed during a trial spell last season and the 18-year-old has now been handed a contract, although he is not expected to see much first-team action. Warnock told the South London Press: "We've given Matthew a one-year contract. He's only a young lad and I see him being one for the juniors and reserves."
