Stoke form is a surprise - Sorensen

Stoke goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen has admitted he is shocked not to be lower in the Premier League table and facing a survival scrap. Before the Potters' defeat to Fulham last week, Stoke had played four teams in and around them in the relegation fight. They drew with Newcastle but defeated, Blackburn, West Brom and Middlesbrough and Sorensen feels that the results in this period are the catalyst for their survival bid."We met (relegation threatened teams) four times in a row and won three of those and drew one," Sorensen told Ekstra Bladet"It has clearly been the key to the position we are in now."The Danish stopper left Aston Villa in the summer searching for regular top-flight football and admitted when moved to the Potteries on a free transfer, he thought his new club would be fighting until the death to survive."There are not any of us who had expected that we would be in such a good position with four games to go."We had probably expected that, if we were to survive, it would be in the final rounds of play. But it is primarily about our performances in the important matches, where we have really delivered."Sorensen feels that another win will see Stoke safe for another season."We have the possibility to secure our position by ourselves."I don't think we need that many points, maybe just one or two. So if we win one of the last four games, we should be safe."[LNB]
