Season over for Bullard
12 Sep 2006 - 18:36:12
Fulham midfielder Jimmy Bullard's season appears to be over after tests revealed he sustained cruciate ligament damage during last weekend's 2-1 win at Newcastle United.
Bullard was stretchered off during the first half after dislocating his right kneecap in a collision with Magpies skipper Scott Parker.
The Cottagers' medical staff initially thought the 27-year-old would be able to return to action in around two months' time after an X-ray showed he had not suffered a fracture.
However, an MRI scan on Tuesday uncovered the ligament damage, which will require surgery.
The news will come as a major blow to Cottagers boss Chris Coleman, who was planning to build his side around Bullard following his £2.5million arrival from Wigan Athletic.
