Sanchez: Healy can improve
30 Nov 2007 - 14:18:35
Fulham boss Lawrie Sanchez believes that David Healy will soon hit top form in the Premier League and replicate his recent goalscoring feats for Northern Ireland.
The 28-year-old summer signing from Leeds United has so far scored four goals in 16 appearances for Fulham, having ended the recent Euro 2008 qualifying campaign with a record 13 goals.
Sanchez told the club's official website: "He's stepped up and scored the goals, but we think he needs to be better physically, so we're doing a lot of physical work to get him up to a level he needs to be at.
"The physical demands of this league, week in week out, are a big ask.
"We can make David stronger with the weights and we'll improve his endurance. David has made a good start, three goals in the Premier League, and that's from a limited number of starts.
"He's a great impact substitute, but we want him to be a 90-minute player."
Meanwhile, Serbia striker Danijel Ljuboja, who had a trial with the Cottagers last summer, claims that he might make a permanent switch to Craven Cottage in the January transfer window.
The 29-year-old is currently with VfB Stuttgart, but has fallen out of favour with the German champions.
