Roy butters up Brede for contract

Fulham boss Roy Hodgson insists Brede Hangeland is still on course to sign a new deal at the end of the season to keep him at Craven Cottage. Hangeland, the 27-year-old centre-back, has been linked to other clubs and has not signed a fresh deal since arriving from Copenhagen during the January transfer window last season. Hodgson is confident of the Norway international remaining in his squad for next season. "We're in the throes now of preparing a contract suggestion for Brede that he's more than happy to see, and that's the situation," Hodgson said. "He certainly hasn't turned anything down as we haven't as yet made him an offer. But he knows we're going to make him an offer and he's very happy to talk to us about that offer. "That's something which I'm sure will be resolved in the future." Hodgson would want Hangeland if his side qualify for the Europa League, as his squad is small even by Premier League standards. Hodgson added: "Our major target was to finish in the Premier League, so we have achieved our target and have not set up a different one. "If we finish with enough points for seventh in the league that would be a fantastic achievement and we will go for it the best we can."
