Pair chase berg - Groningen

Fulham and Hamburg have both expressed an interest in FC Groningen striker Marcus Berg, according to the Eredivisie club. But club director Hans Nijland said they were yet to receive a firm offer for the 22-year-old Sweden international, who is thought to favour a move to Germany. "We received a fax from Fulham saying they wanted to speak with us about Marcus Berg," he told Dutch TV station RTV Noord. "We've spoken with HSV, had contact by telephone. But their interest is not really, really concrete at the moment. The initiative should now come from HSV. We'll wait and will see what happens. "We can't deny that something's going on, clearly, but at the moment it's quite vague. I also don't like seeing these things in the media. It's not a done deal by far. It can fall through. It could be that Berg will play at FC Groningen next season and we'd be very happy if that was the case." Berg joined Groningen from IFK Gothenburg in the summer of 2007 and has averaged a little over a goal every other game in his two years in the Eredivisie.
