Novak cools Fulham talk

MFK Kosice striker Jan Novak has poured cold water on reports linking him with a move to the English Premier League with Fulham. The 24-year-old caught the eye in the Europa League play-offs, scoring twice as Kosice drew 3-3 in their first leg against AS Roma. The Daily Mirror reported last week that Fulham boss Roy Hodgson was targeting Novak as a replacement for the injured Andy Johnson. But the Slovakian goal-getter insists he is yet to receive any direct contact from the Cottagers. "I know nothing," he told Slovak news agency, SITA. "I have read about it only on the internet and that has been the end to it." However, Kosice's general director Jozef Vukusic has confirmed that Fulham have contacted the club. And although Kosice are not looking to sell Novak, Vukusic hinted that should Fulham follow up their initial interest with a concrete offer, a deal could go through before the transfer window shuts. "We have registered interest but have not received a specific offer to make any further statement," he said. "Following Novak's good performances and particularly the goals he has scored recently, the interest is quite logical. "We must admit that Novak has not been among the players we would be willing to release in this transfer window but sometimes things can take a different course quickly and an agreement can be made at the 11th hour. "We are only concerned with specific offers, and whether a transfer will be made or not does not rely only on us. "We don't want to rush anything, although it is nice to see Novak in good shape and scoring goals. "We are appreciating his good performances and know that the time will come for him to move to a better European league. "He deserves it because he is an honest-working player and everything he has achieved goes down to his attitude."
