Niemi fears drop double

Fulham goalkeeper Antti Niemi admits to being shocked that his side are still battling for Premiership survival in the closing weeks of the campaign.

The Cottagers are just a point above the drop zone with two games to play, with Niemi worried that he will suffer the same fate as he did when playing for Southampton two years ago.

He told the Cottagers' official club website: "They're all big games, we've been saying that for weeks and weeks but it all comes down to the last two matches.

"It's been disappointing that we moved down the table so rapidly after Christmas.

"If you look at the situation at the bottom as a mini-league, we're in pole position but we can't rely on somebody else not taking points.

"We have to get points on the board as soon as possible.

"Saying that, we will have to sit down at the end of the season and talk. It's time to look at the situation and think about how we can avoid the same thing happening next season."
