Murphy plays it cool despite Fulham falling to three defeats in a row

Danny Murphy insists Fulham are refusing to hit the panic buttons despite slumping to a three-match losing streak. The Cottagers resume their Europa League campaign against Swiss side Basle tonight with Murphy claiming they have taken heart from Saturday's unfortunate 1-0 defeat by Arsenal. 'Losing three on the run is not nice and it's not good for confidence, but you have to put things into perspective,' said the Fulham captain. 'One of those games was against Manchester City in the Carling Cup, a game we had no right to win given the money they've spent. We gave them a good match too. 'The other defeat was against Arsenal who always finish in the top four. They're potentially two of the best teams in Europe. 'You can't get too despondent, even though I don't like the stat. Sometimes you have to look a bit deeper. 'The lads are happy after their performance on Saturday and it's given us a platform to build on. It's early in the season and we're not at that point where we're thinking 'Oh my God'. 'The performance against Arsenal gave everyone that bit of belief and enabled us to put the poor performance against Wolves to bed quite quickly. 'If you perform well consistently then the wins will come.' Fulham opened their Group E campaign with a 1-1 draw at CSKA Sofia while Basle despatched Roma 2-0. Murphy, who is expected to lead a side containing several first-team regulars tonight, is confident they can progress to the last 32. 'I believe very strongly that we can qualify from this group,' he said. 'Then it's a bit of luck because of the draw with the teams coming in from the Champions League. Then it's bit of a lottery. 'But getting through this group would be a good achievement and would be realistic.'
