Mark Hughes set for Fulham job

Fulham are closing in on naming Mark Hughes as their new manager. [LNB]The Cottagers are without a boss as they prepare for the new season after Roy Hodgson's move to Liverpool earlier in the summer. [LNB] On his way back: Mark Hughes has been out of work since leaving City[LNB]They suffered a major blow in their bid to replace him with Martin Jol's decision to eventually stay with Ajax over a return to the Barclays Premier League. [LNB]Big shoes: Roy Hodgson[LNB]But Fulham are now close to unveiling Hughes as their new man despite Sven Goran Eriksson's emergence as a contender[LNB]Hughes has been out of work since being sacked by Manchester City last year but is highly-rated in the game. [LNB]Fulham owner Mohammed Al Fayed is keen to sustain Fulham's progress after they went all the way to the Europa League final last season. [LNB]Hughes, who initially impressed at City after fine work at Blackburn, is keen to return to management and views Fulham as an ideal post. [LNB]However, with just over two weeks until the start of the season, he will have to work quickly in the transfer market if he wants to rebuild their squad.[LNB]Another late contender for the post is Roberto Donadoni.
