Manchester City outcast Roque Santa Cruz set for January move to Lazio
Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz is expected to join Lazio on loan as soon as the January transfer window opens.[LNB]The Paruguay international came close to moving to the Serie A side last summer after struggling for games at City but the deal collapsed at the last minute.[LNB]But the move is set to go through this time with Santa Cruz set to arrive in Italy in the next few days, according to reports.[LNB] Lazio bound? Roque Santa Cruz is set to arrive in Italy to sign in the next few days[LNB]Lazio will pay City £250,000 for a six-month loan with an option to buy the striker for £2.5m at the end of the season.[LNB]It means the Eastlands side would make a £15m loss on a player they only bought in June 2009 from Blackburn Rovers for £17.5m if he was sold.[LNB]Santa Cruz has scored just three times in 20 appearances for City which would equate to £5m per goal.[LNB]The 29-year-old switch to Italy will come as a blow to Fulham manager Mark Hughes, who is desperately seeking a new striker as a replacement for his goal-shy side. [LNB]The Cottagers are slumped in the bottom three and are badly missing injured striker Bobby Zamora, who will not return until March.[LNB]Leicester had also been linked with Santa Cruz but the player was unlikely to want to drop down to the Championship at this stage of his career.[LNB] Title contenders?
