    Konchesky questions PFA snub

    28 Apr 2010 - 11:00:41

Defender Paul Konchesky has revealed his amazement that no Fulham players were named in the recent Professional Footballers' Association team of the season.

Konchesky has criticised his peers for focusing on big-name players at high-profile clubs after the likes of 19-goal top-scorer Bobby Zamora, winger Damien Duff and goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer all missed out on inclusion.

Roy Hodgson's side have enjoyed another steady season in the league alongside reaching the last eight of the FA Cup and semi-finals of the Europa League.

"There's not even been a mention of anyone getting near the PFA team - like Bobby or our goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer, who has been as good as or better than Joe Hart at Birmingham," said Konchesky.

"It goes unrecognised. For certain players, i.e Bobby, he has to be up there with the top five goalscorers this season.

"But even players tend to go for the big names when they vote.Maybe they don't want to pick Bobby because he has bullied a few centre-halves this season.

"But it's probably because we haven't got an out-and-out big name here. People do talk about Fulham and say 'haven't they done well?' But that's about it.

"I think we deserve more. We're not 'little old Fulham' any more."
