Konchesky backed by Curbs

West Ham United have lodged an appeal against the straight red card shown to Paul Konchesky in the goalless draw against Fulham.
Konchesky was dismissed five minutes from time for a professional foul on Wayne Routledge, with TV replays showing that the Hammers left-back clearly got the ball before making contact with the Cottagers winger.
That was a suggestion echoed by new Irons boss Alan Curbishley, who said: "I think Paul has got the ball.
"I'm disappointed that the game ended like that and we'll be checking out an appeal. If you appeal it can go into the New Year.
"Paul came across and got his tackle in, but while Wayne Routledge rode it and tried to nick the ball, he then lost control.
"In my opinion, it definitely wasn't a goalscoring opportunity and I'm going to ask the referee to have another look at it."
