Fulham defender Zat Knight has not yet given up hope of playing for England again.
The 26-year-old won two caps during England's tour of the USA last summer, but did not even make the standby list for Sven-Goran Eriksson's World Cup squad.
Knight is understandably disappointed to have slipped out of the international reckoning, but acknowledges that he will have to improve his performances for Fulham if he is to force his way in to Steve McClaren's plans.
"The highest honour you can have as a footballer is to represent your country and, having done that once, you want to keep on doing it," he told the club's official website.
"Playing for England gave me the confidence to know that I can do it.
"When you go training, you're training with some of the best players in the world so getting involved with them is only going to improve you as a player. It made me more hungry.
"I've just got to play well for Fulham. If an opportunity does come up then of course I'll grab it with both hands, but I can't focus on England all the time, my priorities lie with Fulham and I'm happy to put my maximum effort in for club."
