Fulham centre-back Zat Knight has won high praise from manager Chris Coleman for his improved performances this season.
Knight struggled for part of last season, having won an England call-up for the summer tour of the USA in 2005.
However, Coleman believes that Knight is now back to his best and is enjoying the added responsibility of being captain.
He told the club's official website: "Zat's matured. He understands from last year that he took his foot of the gas a little bit when he got into the England squad, he relaxed and he can't afford to do that.
"Overall he's been magnificent this season. He's been great in training, his concentration is fantastic and he's been leading the lads.
"He's been here a long time and it's the best I've seen him play since I've known him in seven or eight years.
"I sat him down in pre-season and told him what I needed from him if he was going to get back in the side and he's gone away and done that and I can't ask for any more than that."
