Fulham defender Zat Knight has urged new Cottagers boss Lawrie Sanchez to strengthen the squad in a bid to improve on a "embarrassing" season which almost ended in relegation.
Knight made 24 appearances in a disappointing campaign in which the London club sacked manager Chris Coleman and narrowly avoided the drop to the Championship.
And the two-time England international wants new boss Sanchez to bring some fresh blood into Craven Cottage during the summer in a bid to shake up the current squad.
"I think we had a disappointing season. Recently each year has been better than the last, but obviously this one was the worst since we've been in the Premiership," Knight told the club's official website.
"But we're here to stay now and hopefully we can bounce back next season. We need to bring in a few new players and strengthen the squad, then hopefully we can finish in the position that we wanted to this season.
"We stayed up by the skin of our teeth really which was a bit embarrassing considering that at the beginning of the season we were talking about the top-ten.
"We need to go into every game focused and treat every game as a cup final instead of taking our foot off the gas against the smaller teams.
"In this league anyone can beat anyone and we've proved that when we beat teams like Liverpool and Arsenal, but then we go and lose to someone like Watford or Wigan. It just shows that you have to treat every game the same."
