Ipswich close in on duo

Ipswich are understood to be close to completing the signings of Arsenal youngster Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Fulham goalkeeper David Stockdale.

Paul Jewell is reported to have agreed a fee of around £1million with the Gunners for 20-year-old winger Emmanuel-Thomas, while Stockdale, 25, is set to join on loan from Craven Cottage.

And Jewell has confirmed he expects to have two new faces on board in time for Tuesday's pre-season friendly against Colchester.

"As far as I am aware, fees have been agreed and we are moving on," Jewell told Town's official website.

"I don't want to say anything that might upset the clubs we are dealing with, but I'd be disappointed if we didn't have two new players available for the Colchester game."
