Like Bolton, Fulham began life as a church side - the Fulham St Andrew's Church Sunday School FC - back in 1879. But they became just plain Fulham FC in 1888 and in 1896 they would take up residence at Craven Cottage.

Their history was not a glorious one until they achieved promotion to the top-flight for the first time in 1959, with club heroes Johnny Haynes and George Cohen playing massive parts in keeping them there until 1968. The Seventies in Division Two would also be interesting, with the likes of Bobby Moore, George Best and Rodney Marsh playing their aging trade there.

But they would not return to England's elite until 2001 with the help of money from Harrod's owner Mohamed Al Fayed - a far cry from the situation just five years before when they were staring liquidation and the non-league in the face.

Fast Fact: Fulham's record goalscorer is Gordon Davies who scored 159 goals between 1978 and 1991.
