Hughes eager to tie up Salcido deal

Fulham manager Mark Hughes is hoping to complete the signing of Mexico left-back Carlos Salcido before the transfer window closes. Reports have stated that Fulham have agreed a fee with PSV Eindhoven for the 30-year-old, who played at this summer's World Cup. Hughes insisted their pursuit of Salcido does not automatically mean that Fulham's current left-back Paul Konchesky will be on the move. "We have made enquiries," said Hughes, after watching Fulham beat Port Vale 6-0 in the second round of the Carling Cup. "He is a player I am interested in and we are hopeful it might be concluded."
