Hodgson's artificial concern

Fulham boss Roy Hodgson is concerned his players may find it hard to adapt to the artificial pitch in Thursday night's Europa League play-off second leg tie away to Amkar Perm. The Cottagers take a 3-1 lead from the first leg to Russia but will be without Andy Johnson, Danny Murphy, Bobby Zamora and Paul Konchesky through injury. Striker Johnson suffered a broken collarbone in that encounter last Thursday at Craven Cottage - while captain Murphy, striker Zamora and left-back Konchesky all picked up knocks in the 2-0 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday. Those absentees are not Hodgson's only worry, though, with the artificial surface at the Zvezda Stadium also in his thoughts. Hodgson, who revealed his side have not prepared on similar surfaces in England, said: "Obviously English players are not used to playing on artificial surfaces. "I'm not so concerned about picking up injuries and more concerned that we are not used to playing on it."
