Hodgson set for double boost

Fulham duo Danny Murphy and Andrew Johnson have emerged unscathed from their first training sessions since their respective knee and groin injuries.

Midfielder Murphy and striker Johnson are not yet at the point where they can be considered for first-team action, but manager Roy Hodgson is hopeful that both players will be back in contention in the near future.

He told the club's official website: "It's good to have Andy Johnson and Danny Murphy back.

"They've done two sessions and the good thing is that in both the sessions they've come through totally unscathed.

"As far as contact is concerned, that's something that's very difficult to reproduce as such. All training sessions we have to accept are not going to give the degree of competitive contact they're likely to get the next time they step out in the Premier League.

"Danny suffered ligament damage when he received a kick to the back of the knee against Hull. They thought at the time it was likely to be a six-week injury and this is now the sixth week since it happened.

"With Andy, these groin problems, as we've seen up in Liverpool with Torres and Gerrard, they take time. Unfortunately, if you're not careful you can push someone back a little bit too early and you make the situation worse.

"Both of them, as far as the medical team are concerned, are on track considering the nature of the injuries. It's good to see them both back in training."
