Hodgson keen to keep Brede
29 Jul 2009 - 08:23:33
Fulham manager Roy Hodgson hopes Brede Hangeland stays at Craven Cottage even though the Norway international continues to be linked with Arsenal.
Reports suggest that, if Manchester City finalise a deal to sign the Gunners' Ivory Coast international Kolo Toure, Arsene Wenger will step up his interest in Hangeland.
Hangeland played a key role in helping Fulham clinch a place in this season's Europa League, but Hodgson insisted: "As far as we're concerned he's not for sale.
"But then again, (Cristiano) Ronaldo wasn't for sale and (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic wasn't for sale.
"However big a flea you are, there's always a bigger flea there to bite you.
"There's no doubt he's enjoying his time here. We just hope an offer we can't refuse or that will make him want to move doesn't come in."
Twenty-eight-year-old Hangeland has made 58 starts for Fulham since being signed from FC Copenhagen 18 months ago.
