Hodgson hails amazing win

Fulham manager Roy Hodgson was elated after seeing his side fight back from two goals down to win 3-2 at Manchester City and keep alive their hopes of escaping the drop.

The Cottagers trailed 2-0 with 20 minutes to play at the City of Manchester Stadium, but were revived by goals from Diomansy Kamara and Danny Murphy, before Kamara netted a last-minute winner to complete an amazing turnaround.

Hodgson said afterwards: "It was a splendid victory for us, one we so badly needed. It looked bleak at half-time and we had a mountain to climb.

"The task looked very difficult, if not impossible.

"I always felt if we could get one goal the tie was not dead, but had the game gone longer, City might just have protected their lead.

"I am told we were relegated at one point, although I did not know it at the time, but now we have given ourselves a big chance.

"I challenged the players not to lose the second half, but they went far beyond that, even if I would have found it difficult to envisage.

"We have brought ourselves into some kind of contention when most people had written us off. It is not going to be easy, but at least we have some hope.

"At 0-2 I honestly thought we weren't out of it. I never lost hope, but to win it was extraordinary. We've given ourselves a chance now."
