Hodgson hails Schwarzer role
Roy Hodgson conceded that the script was written for Mark Schwarzer to keep out Middlesbrough.
Fulham continued their unbeaten away run after the goalless draw at the Riverside on Saturday, but the Cottagers will be grateful to their goalkeeper who pulled off a tremendous save to deny his former employers.
Schwarzer's 47th minute stop to prevent forward Tuncay Sanli from scoring what looked to be a certain goal could prove a huge factor in deciding Boro's bid for survival and Hodgson admitted he owed his keeper.
"He made a great save," the Fulham boss said. "It was a wonderful header, great cross came in, met it brilliantly and it was a wonderful save.
"Apart from that he was very, very secure right the way through the game. A lot of high and long balls were coming into the box and it's good to have
Mark Schwarzer in those situations."
Hodgson was happy to praise Gareth Southgate's side, who dominated possession for long-parts, but the Fulham manager felt his team deserved their share of the spoils.
He added: "It wasn't one of our better days football-wise but we have got to give Middlesbrough credit for that.
"They really threw everything at us and worked very, very hard and in the end we are satisfied we played our part in the game and got a 0-0."
