Healy committed to Cottagers
07 Apr 2008 - 17:31:59
Fulham striker David Healy has admitted to being frustrated at how his first season with the Cottagers has panned out.
The 28-year-old rose to prominence by scoring a record 13 goals for Northern Ireland in their Euro 2008 qualifying campaign, but he has managed just six for the Cottagers this term.
Healy has made only 15 starts for Fulham to date, but came off the bench to net a superb goal in the 3-1 weekend defeat at home to Sunderland.
He told the club's official website: "I'm as disappointed as anybody who's not in the squad or not playing.
"It's not up to me. I've got to wait for my opportunity to come and hopefully impress the manager.
"When you're playing and not scoring people are looking for other options and other players to play. I think that happened earlier in the season when I wasn't playing very well.
"You see it happen all the time in football, especially with strikers. They rotate more than defenders or midfielders.
"I'm as committed as anyone at the club, although it is disappointing the amount of games that I have played.
"Everybody wants to play and score goals and I want to be a part of this, whatever the future is. Hopefully the future is bright."
