Hangeland desperate to sign

Fulham defender Brede Hangeland is hoping to agree a new contract soon to end the speculation surrounding his future.

The Norway international continues to be linked with a summer move away from Craven Cottage despite pledging his future to the club and revealing that talks over a new long-term deal had already started.

Hangeland, who joined the Cottagers from Copenhagen in January 2008, now hopes he can put pen to paper as soon as possible to bring to an end the talk about his future.

He told the club's official website: "There's been speculation but as far as I know there's no serious interest and I will repeat it again, I am really happy at Fulham.

"The prospect of playing here for another season with a European campaign is something I look forward to very much.

"Hopefully we can agree a new contract and then I'll stay here for a long time.

"It's been going in the right direction since the moment I came here. I hope we can agree on something soon."
