Greening submits transfer request

West Brom captain Jonathan Greening has handed in a written transfer request at The Hawthorns. The midfielder submitted the letter last week, prior to a £2million-plus-player bid from Fulham which was labelled 'derisory' by Baggies chairman Jeremy Peace. West Brom, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, have offered the 30-year-old a new deal but he is keen to leave. Despite the request, the Midlands outfit want to keep Greening and he has promised to help secure an immediate return to the top flight if a move does not materialise. The former Manchester United youngster arrived from Middlesbrough in 2004 and has made more than 200 appearances for the Baggies.
