Gera wary of Euro progress
28 Sep 2009 - 16:02:52
Hungary international Zoltan Gera thinks Fulham's European campaign is hindering their Premier League progress.
The weekend defeat to Arsenal left the Cottagers hovering just above the relegation zone and Gera does not think the current squad is deep enough to also be competing in the Europa League.
He was quoted as saying: "If we keep playing like this and putting in this sort of performance then we will not have anything to worry about. We were just unlucky.
"It's been difficult this season because we are in Europe and we need to keep a balance to make sure we keep getting results. Their keeper made some great saves. It was a good derby."
Meanwhile, Fulham boss Roy Hodgson had little to complain about, saying: "I did not think it was a bad performance from us. We defended well and attacked well against one of the Premier League's better teams.
"We have now played four of last season's top five and can only hope there are other teams out there who we can beat more easily.
"We played better than we did when we beat them here last year. Then, we scored and dug in. This time it was they who got the goal and then dug in."
