Gera targets top-half finish

Fulham midfielder Zoltan Gera is confident his new club will not become embroiled in a relegation dogfight for the second successive season.

The Hungary international joined the Cottagers on a free transfer from West Bromwich Albion during the summer and has already found the net twice in just four appearances.

Roy Hodgson's side narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the last campaign but, after taking six points from the first 12 on offer at the start of the new season, Gera believes the Cottagers can look upwards this term.

The 29-year-old opened his league account for the London club in last weekend's 2-1 win over Bolton Wanderers.

"So far I've not been satisfied with my performances but against Bolton I played well and my team-mates praised me in the dressing room," he said.

"It's early to talk about it but I think it would be annoying if we were fighting against relegation at the end of the season.

"It seems that Fulham have made some good signings and built a very stylish team.

"If we finished in the top half of the table then I would be satisfied."
