Fulham swoop for Buchtmann

Teenage defender Christopher Buchtmann has joined Fulham from Liverpool ahead of the transfer deadline.

The 17-year-old left-back has joined the Cottagers on an 18-month contract to bring to an end the deadline day business of manager Roy Hodgson.

Buchtmann is a Germany Under-17 international that had been rated as one the brightest prospects in the reserve team at the Merseyside club.

"Fulham can announce the signing of young German left-back Christopher Buchtmann from Liverpool on an 18-month contract that will see the player at the club until June 2011," confirmed a club statement.

"Following the addition of Christopher Buchtmann, Fulham has now concluded its signings this transfer window."

Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson had already added Aston Villa defender Nicky Shorey and striker Stefano Okaka to his squad on transfer deadline day.

Meanwhile, fellow frontman Diomansy Kamara was allowed to join Celtic on loan until June.
