Fulham courage pleases Roy
14 Sep 2009 - 07:38:44
Manager Roy Hodgson praised Fulham's courage after they came from a goal down to defeat Everton 2-1 at Craven Cottage on Sunday.
The Toffees had led through Tim Cahill's 33rd-minute opener, but Paul Konchesky's equaliser and Damien Duff's winner - his first goal for the club - left Hodgson purring with delight.
"It looked like a 0-0 in the first half but of course they scored a good goal and we found ourselves on the back foot," he said.
"We showed a bit more courage in the second half. It was less a war of attrition and we scored two goals to turn the game around.
"I thought both teams worked very hard and we know we have beaten a good Everton team today."
Hodgson was also delighted with the performance of Duff following the winger's arrival from Newcastle United last month.
"It was a wonderful goal and he played well throughout the game," he added.
"His crossing was good and it was nice to cap his second home game with a goal.
"It's important when you move clubs to show the fans immediately what you can do."
