Fulham take legal action against Sir Dave Richards over Peter Crouch Spurs transfer

The Premier League hired external lawyers to conduct their own investigation into Fulham's complaint about Richards, who is also the chairman of the Football Association's Club England, and were satisfied that there was no evidence of any impropriety. [LNB]Crouch eventually joined Tottenham from Portsmouth for only £9 million. [LNB]It is understood that the Tottenham deal involved paying a far higher percentage of the fee up front. [LNB]This would have been important at the time for Portsmouth, who were struggling to fund even their most basic costs. Another factor in Tottenham's favour was the desire of Crouch to again work under Harry Redknapp. [LNB]
