Fulham skipper Danny Murphy is on the brink of agreeing a new one year deal, keeping him at Craven Cottage until the end of next season.
Manager Mark Hughes said: 'We are still talking, but we are very hopeful that will be concluded very quickly. There's a will to do it on both sides.
'Danny's a fit guy, leads his life well and there's no reason why he cannot play at the top level for a number of years.'
The former England midfielder, 33, joined in a £2 million switch from Tottenham in August 2007 and was a pivotal figure in their Europa Cup run last season.
