Fulham have now entered the race to sign Swedish goal machine Marcus Berg from Dutch club Groningen. Reports on Wednesday suggested that the 22-year-old preferred a move to Hamburg but it now seems Cottagers manager Roy Hodgson has stepped up his interest in the player. The striker hit the headlines after scoring an impressive seven goals in this summer's Under 21 European Championship including a brace against England in the semi-finals. Hamburg were believed to have agreed a fee of around €10million for the former Gothenburg ace but Groningen manager Henk Veldmate revealed that Fulham have concrete interest in the player. "Those two clubs Fulham and Hamburg are the only ones left who are now in conversation with us when it comes to Marcus Berg," he told The Sun. "We have had some meetings with both clubs. We will see what happens in the next couple of days. "But I can say both these clubs have been concrete in their interest and we know Marcus wants to leave us for a bigger club."
