Fifa using five referees in World Cup matches totally unnecessary, says Bjorn Helge Riise

Fifa are considering extending the experiment used in the Europa League this season in which the referee and his two assistants have been accompanied by two further officials standing by each goal. Fulham face CSKA Sofia knowing that a win will extend their stay in the competition, with an away game in Basle then determining if they progress to the knock-out stages. 'When we played in Sofia I saw an obvious penalty for us and the extra official was standing right by me and didn't see it so, in my opinion, it doesn't work. 'I don't think we need it and sometimes the mistakes that are made are just part of the charm of football.' Fulham are without three players through suspension Jonathan Greening, Erik Nevland and Paul Konchesky while Dickson Etuhu, Diomansy Kamara and Andy Johnson are injured. But Danny Murphy, missing since mid-October with a groin problem, returns to midfield and Bobby Zamora, absent on Saturday with a similar injury, should also feature.
