Fulham's caretaker manager Lawrie Sanchez believes that Papa Bouba Diop has all the attributes to become one of the best midfielders in the Premiership.
The 29-year-old Senegal powerhouse made a big impact when he first arrived in England in the summer of 2004, but has suffered a dip in form in recent times, after suffering with a number of injuries.
However, Sanchez still feels that Diop can become one of the Premiership's big stars.
He told the club's official website: "I've seen Fulham and Papa Bouba Diop play over the years, he has all the attributes to be a top-class midfielder.
"Physically, ability wise, his engine, the strength, many years ago when he came over I thought he would be the next Patrick Vieira, he had all those qualities.
"I think Vieira was the best midfielder to play in the Premiership, with Roy Keane, over the last ten years.
"I don't quite know how Bouba's career has gone here, but if he can show what I think he's got in the middle of the field he'll be a major asset for Fulham in the future.
"There's no reason why Bouba can't get himself up to being one of the best centre midfield players in the Premiership and that's where I see his long-term position."
