Dempsey hints at Fulham exit

Frustrated Fulham midfielder Clint Dempsey is willing to leave the club because of his lack of first-team opportunities this season.

The 25-year-old USA international has made only one start - in the Carling Cup defeat at Burnley - for Roy Hodgson's side so far this term, coming on as a substitute in two Premier League matches.

Zoltan Gera has taken over from Dempsey in the centre of the Cottagers' midfield, and it is not a situation the American relishes.

He said: "The coach here now is not the one who brought me in so it's difficult proving that I deserve to be on the field."

Chris Coleman signed Dempsey in January 2007 and the player has made 55 appearances for the club, although 20 of those have been from the substitute's bench.
