Davies set for Cottagers talks

Fulham appear to have won the race to sign Everton midfielder Simon Davies after the Merseyside club confirmed that they had allowed the Wales international to speak to the Cottagers about a possible transfer.

The 27-year-old played for David Moyes' side in Sunday's 2-0 win at Wigan Athletic but it could prove to be his last game for the Goodison Park-based outfit.

Davies joined The Toffees from Tottenham Hotspur in May 2005 for £3.5million but has struggled to impress, scoring only one goal in 53 appearances for the club.

He started his career at Peterborough United before moving to White Hart Lane in December 1999 in a £700,000 deal.

Davies made 121 Premiership appearances for Spurs before moving to Everton.
