Davies: Cottagers will build

Fulham midfielder Simon Davies believes the club will take the momentum gained from their dramatic final day survival into the next Premier League season.

The Cottagers were just 15 minutes away from relegation to the Championship, before Danny Murphy secured a priceless 1-0 victory over Portsmouth on the final day of the season last weekend.

"Once everything gets settled down I think we can take the momentum into next season because the last few weeks, winning games that we haven't done for a long time, we've got to keep that belief," Davies told the club's official website.

"When we meet up again in July to play in the Premier League we will believe that we can win games. When the new season starts we'll be ready for it."

Meanwhile, the Wales international has paid tribute to manager Roy Hodgson, who replaced former boss Lawrie Sanchez in the testing hot-seat at the turn of the year.

"We've got a lot of good footballers at the club and we like to get the ball down and play around teams," he continued.

"The manager's tried to get the best out of us and we've played some excellent football at times in high-pressure situations."
