Cottagers reduce AJ offer

Everton may have to accept a reduced transfer fee for Andrew Johnson after the striker's proposed transfer to Fulham stalled when a medical revealed problems with the former Birmingham City player's knee.

The transfer was expected to be completed last week after the two clubs agreed a transfer fee for the player that could have eventually risen to more than £12million.

The Cottagers are now unwilling to pay more than £8million for the 27-year-old, who has found the net 22 times in 74 appearances for David Moyes' side.

Moyes has already endured a frustrating summer with bids for Sporting Lisbon's Joao Moutinho and Athletic Bilbao midfielder Javi Martinez rejected.

Johnson moved to Merseyside in the summer of 2006 for £8.6million from Crystal Palace.
