Coleman praise for Helguson

Fulham boss Chris Coleman has praised striker Heidar Helguson for his patience and told him he will eventually win a first-team place.

The Icelandic international, who joined the Cottagers from Watford in a £1.3million deal during the summer, has been kicking his heels on the substitutes' bench for all of the club's Premiership game so far as Coleman continues to prefer Brian McBride and Tomasz Radzinski in attack.

He did score on his debut in the 5-4 Carling Cup victory over Lincoln on Wednesday, but he will drop back to the bench at White Hart Lane on Monday when Fulham visit Tottenham.

However, Coleman said: "When Heidar came to the club he knew he would be providing back-up for Tomasz Radzinski and Brian McBride.

"Luckily his attitude is great and I'm delighted he's here. It's only a matter of time before he gets his chance.

"We mustn't expect too much from him because it's a big step up to the Premiership from the Championship.

"But he's played international football and knows he must be patient. Because his attitude is spot on we're not worried about the situation."
