Bullard relishes England call

Fulham midfielder Jimmy Bullard is elated at having earned a call-up to the England squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Croatia.

The 29-year-old was a surprise name in Fabio Capello's squad, with Bullard having only recently battled back from a career-threatening knee injury.

He told his club's official website: "I'm absolutely buzzing. To represent England has been my ambition ever since I was a young boy and to be called up by Fabio Capello is just a dream come true for me.

"I've been working hard since my return from injury and I'd like to think that has earned me this chance.

"Now it's down to me to prove myself to the manager and just see what happens from there.

"The most important thing is that England qualify for the World Cup in 2010 and any part I can play in helping us do that will make me immensely proud.

"I can't wait to meet up with the squad, this is just an incredible moment for me and now I want to push on and do the very best I can for England."
