Brunt talk upsets Laws

Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws has hit out at the leaking of the story about Fulham's bid for Owls winger Chris Brunt into the public arena.
The 22-year-old is wanted by his former Northern Ireland boss Lawrie Sanchez, now in charge of the Cottagers, but Laws is less than impressed by the tactics being used.
He told the Sheffield Star: "We don't want to go down the Madjid Bougherra route. He demanded to go.
"He told us he wouldn't play for us again if we wouldn't let him go. Chris Brunt isn't saying that. He's a different breed.
"We are trying to be progressive. We want to keep Chris. Unfortunately, this story about Fulham has got out, for some reason or another.
"We're disappointed that it's got into the media, though not surprised. Things like this can sometimes be interpreted as a way of unsettling a player.
"But we have kept Chris fully aware of the situation. We are standing firm on this. Chris knows that."
Brunt initially moved to Hillsborough on loan in March 2004 and has gone on to score 24 goals in 152 appearances for Wednesday.
