Brown facing FA charge

Fulham captain Michael Brown must face a Football Association disciplinary commission after being charged with violent conduct following an apparent headbutt on Liverpool's Xabi Alonso.

Alonso required treatment after a first-half altercation with Brown in a match which Fulham won 1-0 at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

The Cottagers skipper has until 6pm on Wednesday to respond to the charge following an incident which infuriated Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez.

"It was clear and everybody saw it. When the FA view the replay I suppose they'll take action," said the Spaniard.

"If the officials had seen it then it could have changed the game.

"Big money has been spent in the electronics system for the four officials yet nobody could see anything.

"I had four players injured in this game - Jose Reina, Momo Sissoko, Alvaro Arbeloa and Xabi Alonso. It's unbelievable."
