[LNB]The 29-year-old enjoyed a remarkable season last term, finishing with 19 goals in 48 appearances, and was a key factor behind the club's march to the Europa League final. [LNB]His performances attracted the attention of Fabio Capello who admitted he would have been considered for England's World Cup squad but for an achilles injury. [LNB]He did not have to wait long for his first cap, however, with Capello bringing him on in the second half of last month's 2-1 victory over Hungary. [LNB]It continues a remarkable change in fortunes for a player who only in November was being jeered by his own fans. [LNB]Relieved: Hughes is happy Zamora's future is sorted[LNB]That reaction proved the catalyst for the form that thrust him into the England reckoning, despite initial suggestions of an international call-up being viewed as a joke. [LNB]A string of spectacular goals against Basle, Shakhtar Donetsk, Juventus and Wolfsburg, a good first touch and his strength on the ball have seen Zamora's value rocket to £10million. [LNB]The £4.8m signing from West Ham has already scored three goals in four games so far this season.[LNB]Fulham manager Mark Hughes identified Zamora as a key player and revealed the club were anxious to retain him. [LNB]'We're delighted that Bobby has signed. It was important to tie him down to a new contract,' said Hughes. [LNB]'Bobby's a focal point of what we're trying to do here and is an important figure in the team and dressing room. [LNB]'This new contract is just reward for his efforts in recent times. He's playing exceptionally well at the moment. [LNB]'I've been very impressed in the short time I've worked with him. I quickly came to understand the quality he has.'
