Arsenal antics upset Sanchez
13 Aug 2007 - 07:53:38
Fulham boss Lawrie Sanchez accused Arsenal players of diving after watching his side concede two late goals at the Emirates Stadium.
The Cottagers lost 2-1 despite leading from the first minute thanks to David Healy's goal, but it was the antics of the home team's players that upset the former Wycombe Wanderers and Northern Ireland manager.
He blasted: "I was at the same meeting with Arsene Wenger and (referee's chief) Keith Hackett, and they did say that simulation was going to be a big no-no this year.
"If (referee) Phil (Dowd) had booked someone with it, people wouldn't have been as ready to go down in the box.
"There were at least three claims in the first half for penalties. If they weren't penalties, then they were simulation. It's either one or the other.
"This was a game which we were always expected to lose. I told the players we could gain everything from here.
"We had a go. It's just unfortunate that we've come away with nothing."
